BookingBuilder Technologies develops applications in the travel industry. Our applications are the industry standard for helping travel agents book airlines that are not in their regular computer systems and assisting travel agents with tedious tasks at the point of sale. Our software is used by leading travel companies around the globe. 

We are looking for an experienced test engineer to improve and lead our testing efforts as well as manage and grow our test team. To be considered for this position you must be strong in all of the technologies we list in this ad. Additionally you must have at least 5 years’ experience managing people as you will be leading a technical team of applications testers. 

And finally, it is important that you can demonstrate that you have multiple years of working with, and are comfortable using, applications that facilitate business travel, as these complex tools are at the core of our business.

About our company and the open position:

Our main application is a rich client application that includes browser controls, SQLite database, inter-process communication service, web scraping, script engine, server data synchronization, travel reservation system interfaces, and other components. It is administered through our website, which includes management of the installed application, reporting, billing, data feeds, collection of statistics and other functionality.  You must be able to demonstrate that you have both ‘hands on’ and leadership testing experience working on similar platforms. 

The QA Test engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality and usability of BookingBuilder software. You will be able to create and execute test plans that include both manual and automated tests. You will also be able to perform ad hoc testing as needed. Additionally, you will be able to write clear and descriptive bug reports, set up testing environments, and use the tools needed for performing those tasks.  Ultimately, you will ensure that our products, applications, and systems work correctly.  Additionally, we have deployed a suite of automated test tools, and our expectation is that you will lead our efforts to enhance and update this technology.

You have a verifiable track record of…

  • Demonstrating that you are a creative, practical problem solver with multiple successes helping to ensure that code is released into production as bug-free as humanly possible
  • Having been responsible for day to day testing of multiple projects and applications.
  • Creating and executing comprehensive test plans, test cases and scripts based on system requirements, which provide adequate test coverage of a given application.
  • Developing detailed testing matrix documentation that outlines test coverage and plans
  • Providing Functional, GUI, White-box, Black-box, Smoke and Regression testing on various platforms and technologies for both WinForms as well as web-based applications.
  • Identifying opportunities for and then creating comprehensive test automation
  • Maintaining priorities based upon internal need communicated by the leadership
  • Documenting applications, processes and test cases.
  • Maintaining specs, bug lists, feature requests
  • Ensuring your organization is using the latest applicable technologies and approaches for testing.
  • Being a big picture person who can understand and manage multiple components simultaneously
  • Being seen by others as someone who understands how technology can be used to dramatically increase tester productivity and take over tedious, manual, tasks.
  • Someone with experience managing testers, including recruiting and hiring.
  • Working successfully with various travel industry technologies 

You have:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience designing, developing and supporting applications testing (including both web and pc-based applications) using the technologies stated in this job posting
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in business travel technology that includes interfacing with one or more GDSs.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a development team that included software engineers and testers.
  • Used the following tools:
  • TestComplete by Smartbear
  • Remote access tools for testing on virtual machines
  • MS Visual Studio
  • MS Visual Studio Team Foundation Server (TFS)
