Mecklenburg County is located in beatiful Southern Virginia, along the Virginia / North Carolina border and halfway between Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC. The County Government offices are located in the quaint 1700's town of Boydton. The Tourism Office was created in early 2013 in response to the tremendous number of annual visitors to Kerr (Bugg's Island) Lake and Lake Gaston, representing approximately $127 million in annual tourism spending. This small tourism office is structured under Economic Development, and is tasked with collaborating county-wide tourism efforts, educating and training businesses and attractions on the tourism industry, and strategically marketing the County and Region to a broad audience.
