In 1960, Gene McGlenn was a successful fire and casualty insurance agent in Kalispell when he decided to open a travel service. Gene opened Flathead Travel on October 25, 1960.
Gene’s wife Dorothy took over in 1969 and worked for over 20 years to build the business and raise it to the next level. Dorothy’s warm personality and dedication to excellence created exceptional growth and assured the longevity of the business.
In 1986 Gene’s daughters, Micki Nonemacher and Darcy Lard, took over, and today Micki, Darcy, and their brother Roger, own the family business.
Today, Flathead Travel’s home office is located at 500 South Main, plus branch offices in Whitefish, Missoula, and Helena. Flathead Travel has seen many changes in their 52 years of service. Through this journey there is still one thing that has not changed Flathead Travel’s dedication to quality, excellence, and premium knowledge and service.
